"All His Angels" is the fifteenth episode of the fourth season of Vikings. It is the forty-fourth episode of the series overall. It first aired on December 28, 2016. It was written by creator Michael Hirst and directed by Ciarán Donnelly.

Synopsis Edit

Ragnar and Ivar plot against the Saxons and reach a new level of understanding.King Aelle can not hide his pleasure when Ragnar arrives in a cage and shows no mercy.

Recap Edit

Ecbert has arranged a ship to take Ivar home. Ragnar asks Ecbert to speak with Ivar alone and say goodbye. Ragnar tells Ivar he will be handed over to Aelle and will die. Ragnar tells Ivar to avenge his death and take revenge on Ecbert. Before he departs, Ragnar tells Ivar to be ruthless. Before he is caged, Ragnar gives Athelstan's cross to his son Alfred, and tells Ecbert that in the end, Athelstan chose Christ. On the road, Ragnar has visions of his younger days and a discussion with the Seer, where he denounces his belief in the gods. Ragnar arrives in Northumbria and is tortured by Aelle. Ecbert secretly travels to Northumbria to attend Ragnar's execution. Ragnar tells those in attendance that he dies without apology and welcomes death. He says he will wait for his sons in Valhalla, to hear stories of their triumphs. Ragnar is then dropped into a pit of snakes where he dies. Ivar arrives in Kattegat to tell Ubbe and Sigurd that Ragnar is dead, after Ecbert handed him over to Aelle. Ubbe and Sigurd then tell Ivar that their mother was killed by Lagertha. Across the fjord, a longship carrying a black cloaked figure, missing his right eye, approaches.
