The Battle of Bråvalla (Brávellir in Old Norse) was a legendary battle described in the Scandinavian sagas. It took place on the Bråvalla, the central plain of eastern Götaland between Sigurd Hring, king of Sweden, and his uncle Harald Wartooth, king of Denmark. Sigurd Hring was the winner.[1]

The battle is mentioned by Lagertha, who noted that three hundred shield-maidens fought for Harald Wartooth.

Outcome[]

This battle resulted in Sigurd becoming the sovereign ruler of all of Sweden and Denmark. 40,000 warriors had died.
