Donal Francis Logue (born February 27, 1966) is an Irish-Canadian film and television actor, producer, and writer. He portrays King Horik in the History Channel series Vikings.

Biography[]

His notable roles include starring in the film The Tao of Steve, Sons of Anarchy, Vikings, the sitcom Grounded for Life, the television series Copper and the detective series Terriers.

He currently stars as detective Harvey Bullock in Fox's Gotham and had a recurring role in NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as Lt. Declan Murphy.

His parents were Carmelite missionaries and the family moved all over the world before settling Calexico, California. He began performing in plays during high school. He studied history at Harvard University, graduating in 1988 with a degree in Intellectual History.

  • Logue holds both Irish and Canadian citizenship.
  • He has a Class A Commercial Drivers License and is licensed to drive tractor-trailers with double or triple trailers, tankers, and hazardous materials. He has a trucking company called Aisling Trucking based out of Central Point, Oregon.
  • He has a hardwood company called Frison-Logue Hardwood.
  • After losing four friends to alcohol abuse, Logue swore off alcohol in 1991 and has remained sober ever since.
  • He acted a roadie for the rock group The Lemonheads in the 1980's.
  • His sister Deirdre Logue is his twin.
  • His role as Peter Quinn in Blade was originally a minor role, but he was so funny on set, the director expanded his part and allowed him to ad-lib much of his dialogue.
  • When asked, linguists determined that Donal Logue and Gustaf Skarsgård (Floki) speak the Old Norse dialogue the best.
