Valhalla (Old Norse: Valhöll) is the legendary great hall of the god Odin.

Description

It's said that the warriors who fall in battle are taken by Odin to join his host to fight in the final battle of Ragnarök. This makes it a dream for many Vikings who see it as the highest honor to serve in their god's host and live under his roof. The name literally means "the hall of the slain." The einherjar are those who have died in battle and have been brought to Valhalla by the Valkyries. The name literally means "army of one" or "those who fight alone."[1]

In Vikings

One night during Ragnar's recovery from the attack on his farm, Athelstan asks the group about Valhalla. Floki explains that Valhalla is “vast and gold-bright. And every day, Odin chooses slain men to join him. They arm themselves and fight in the great courtyard. They kill one another; but every night they rise again and ride back to the hall and feast. The roof is made out of shields. The rafters are spears. Coats of mail litter the benches. A wolf stands at the western door and an eagle hovers above it. It has 540 doors, and when Ragnarok comes, 800 warriors will march out of each door, shoulder to shoulder.”
